love
everywhere. Christians are tremendously favored to have the
great teachings to help them know God.
Warren
Wiersbie says: "Remember this. As Christians, we do not
live on explanations. We live on promises"
The
true promises of God are with us, as we live by faith and not
by sight. God will forever remain faithful to His word. A real
evidence of God's love is that He wishes His love to spill
over into our entire life; in the words we say, actions we
take, and every relationship we make. In
dealing with people, God wishes that His love becomes the only
currency we spend to pour out our love from our hearts into
the hearts of those around us. Just as Paul taught in
Ephesians 5:2 (KJV) "And walk in love, as Christ also
hath loved us, and hath given himself an offering and a
sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savor."
It
is especially after answered prayers, that our link with the
Father is strengthened and we feel His caring love.
In this special month of Grandparents, I think of our
own grandchildren and God's love in action. When they wish to
taste our measured love for them, they approach us while they
are discouraged, passing through some difficulties.
As we help and see them through, they eagerly SEE.. and
FEEL.. and KNOW that it is with God's true love that we love
them.
The
following story is one that touches my heart. It tells me how
God's love is uncovered and appreciated by an innocent child.
One
extremely cold and frosty Christmas morning found a small
poverty-stricken boy on his own. He was frail, shivering
standing by a shoe store; he stared longingly through the shop
window, at a certain pair of shoes that were his foot size. As
the store owners, a middle-aged couple, living at the back of
the store, were having their Christmas lunch, they saw the
desperate boy. The wife
hurried out with a woolen cloak, covered the child and brought
him into their home. With flowing tears, she warmed his frail
body near the fireplace, clothed him with new warm clothes and
gave him some hot soup. Overwhelmed, the
child ate and watched her as she gently cleaned his feet, and
placed on them the pair of shoes he early admired. This great
act of love touched his heart tremendously! He was thrilled
beyond words. Then it was time for him to
leave. With the greatest appreciation the thankful boy, hugged
his benefactress so hard and looking in her eyes very
truthfully asked: "Lady?...Are you Mrs. God?"
To
recognize the love of God behind great acts is a wonderful
blessing . This is the most important asset, required as an
ingredient in the service of our awesome God.
One of the characters to be commended in this area is
non other than the renown King David in the Bible. His psalms
confess his discovery of the true measure of God's love and
faithfulness toward His children. For this reason God chose
and anointed him as king.
Psalm
78: 70, 71 tells us, "He chose David also, and took him
from the sheepfolds; from following the ewes great with young
he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and
Israel
his inheritance." (KJV)
